"And the World Goes 'Round"
July 10-20
Pike Performing Arts Center
It could be that John Kander and Fred Ebb are the last musical theater songwriting team to produce tunes that penetrated deep into the mainstream of American culture. With "Cabaret," "All that Jazz," and especially "New York, New York," (OK, so it was written for a movie, not a play) the prolific duo were the last of a breed.

They had plenty of hit shows and hit tunes, but the 1989 off-Broadway musical revue "And the World Goes 'Round" helped solidify an appreciation for their body of work. Featuring songs not only from their hits, the show also brought to light terrific tunes from such lesser-known shows as "The Happy Time" and "The Rink."

Soon, Broadway was paying attention to Kander and Ebb again, with the acclaimed revival of "Cabaret" and the still-running-even-after-being-spun-off-into-a-hit-film juggernaut that is "Chicago."

Actors Theatre of Indiana revives "And the World Goes 'Round" this month. For more details on the production, click here . To see a vintage clip of Liza Minnelli singing the title song on "The Mike Douglas Show," click here.

Dance Kaleidoscope's "I Got Gershwin"
July 10-13
Indiana Repertory Theatre
I don't often make a big deal about ticket prices in my e-mail blast. What is easily affordable for one person is a major splurge for someone else. But when Dance Kaleidoscope offers a full performance for about the cost of a movie, attention must be paid. The $10 show includes dances set to "Rhapsody in Blue," "Fascinatin' Rhythm" and more. Tenor Steven Stolen provides live vocals for a "Gershwin in Love" medley.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
July 11
Indianapolis Museum of Art
Don't expect the traditional Summer Nights movie series crowd at the Indianapolis Museum of Art this weekend. Do expect garters, flying objects (i.e. toast) and dancing in the aisles.

That's because this week's flick is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," the cult classic that taught us all how to do "The Time Warp." (Don't worry if you don't know it. You'll have on-screen assistance.)

The crowd isn't the only thing different about this showing. The time has also changed, with the movie beginning at midnight.

"To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum"
July 13-Sept. 7
Indianapolis Museum of Art
The IMA had a huge hit with its Roman art show last year. Let's see if the Indy crowd takes as generously to this collection of treasures from ancient Egypt. Featuring more than 120 objects, the show will be surrounded by special events ranging from a July 13 lecture by Dr. Edward Bleiberg of the Brooklyn Museum to a screening of the 1999 flick "The Mummy." This week's contest
In addition to his stand-up career, Tommy Davidson is known for his stint on "In Living Color," his appearances in such films as "Bamboozled" and "Juwanna Mann," and, vocally, his work on TV's "The Proud Family." Want a chance at winning tickets to see him live at Morty's Comedy Joint, Aug. 14-17? Just fill out the form here. We'll pull one name at random. (And for more info on his gig at Morty's, click here .

Last week, we offered a table for four at the Indiana Historical Society's July 10th Sweet City Blues "Concert on the Canal" featuring Tad Robinson. The winner? Adam Reiff. We also asked for your favorite blue thing. Our favorite responses are here.
