PriorityListTitle

Jon McLaughlin
Dec. 31
Music Mill

The last time this Anderson-native singer-songwriter was in town, he passionately played to an enthusiastic Egyptian Room crowd. Good to see he's staying close to home for New Year's, helping usher in 2008 at the Music Mill. Also on the bill are Red Moon and The Last Good Year. Note: This an adults-only venue, so if the kids want to see McLaughlin, they'll have to check out Disney's "Enchanted," where he briefly appears as the ballroom singer in the film's climax. Chris Rock
Dec. 29
Murat Theatre

The only time I've ever bought Chris Rock in a movie is his recent, brief portrayal of Mooseblood, the mosquito in "Bee Movie." The problem elsewhere? He always seems to be thinking more than his character is.

The trait that keeps him from engaging on film, though, is what makes Rock's live performances so dynamic. This isn't just set up/punchline/set up/punchline stuff. Rock is a serious comic really trying to make sense of the world's absurdities. See him in his element for this one-night only visit to Indianapolis. For details, click HERE

New Years Eve Rock 'N' Roll Ball
Dec. 31
Hyatt Regency Indianapolis

Yes, there's only one New Year's Eve. But this event offers a wide variety of end-of-the-year experiences under one roof. On the main stages, local favorites Virgin Millionaires and The Why Store are among the bands. On another, there's hip-hop with Mudkids. Prefer comedy? Scott Long headlines the comedy stage. And in the ballroom, there's Carl Storie. Plus gamers not interested in these performances can wile away 2007's waning hours in a fantasy casino. For more details,

This Week's Contest
With the holiday movie releases filling up theaters, let us consider the less successful movie choices made by Hollywood stars. Bruce Willis in "Hudson Hawk." John Travolta in "Battlefield Earth." Julia Roberts in "Mary Reilly."

Bringing back lots of bad memories? Thought so. For this week's contest, and you can win a copy of "In the Can: The Greatest Career Missteps, Sophomore Slumps, What-Were-They-Thinking Moves and Fire-Your-Agent Movie in the History of the Movies" (co-written by yours truly) which looks at, well, the title explains it all.

We'll pull one winner at random on Jan. 2. Click HERE to enter.

While filling out the form, just for fun, tell us the movie you love that you think everyone else hates. We'll link you to representative responses next week.

As for last week, you may recall we asked for the person over 50 that you'd marry in a heartbeat. The reason we asked? We were giving away four tickets to see "Menopause: The Musical." The winner: Kathy Smith.

The responses? Click HERE.
