| Just Marketing gets $50M investment boost Just Marketing International has received an investment of more than $50 million from New York-based Spire Capital Partners and Switzerland-based Credit Suisse. The motorsports marketing company and its new partners plan to explore a variety of growth initiatives, including acquisitions. No changes are expected to the current Just Marketing management team, which is led by CEO Zak Brown. Last month, Just Marketing said it plans to spend more than $3 million to expand its Zionsville headquarters and add 47 employees to its current 90.
Flood-battered businesses brace for more rain Cummins Inc. and other south-central Indiana employers are assessing flood damage as they prepare for the possibility of more storms this evening. As much as 11 inches of rain fell in parts of Indiana over the weekend. Another storm could drop up to 3 inches of rain late tonight. The southern half of the state has experienced the heaviest flooding. Columbus-based Cummins said it suffered the worst damage in two buildings that house its primary research-and-development and testing areas. Gov. | | Researchers' disclosure of Lilly payments probed Three Harvard Medical School doctors whose studies helped pave the way for the use of psychiatric drugs in children are being investigated for failing to properly disclose payments from several drugmakers, including Eli Lilly and Co., reports Bloomberg News. The researchers initially said they received less than $80,000 from Lilly, which makes the antipsychotic drug Zyprexa as well as Strattera, a treatment for attention deficit disorder. But in a subsequent review, they claimed to have received $172,198; Lilly told a U.S. senator that it had paid the researchers $259,756.
Tipton County transmission plant begins hiring Hiring has begun at the Getrag Corp. transmission plant north of Indianapolis, nearly a year after the German manufacturer announced plans to build the $530 million plant in Tipton County, reports the Kokomo Tribune. So far, 19 salaried workers have been hired; two more are slated to come aboard by July 1. The plant is expected to open late 2009. It will employ 1,400 workers making fuel-efficient, dual-clutch transmissions.

President Bush declares disaster areas Parts of Indiana are experiencing the worst flooding in nearly 100 years. At the urging of Gov. Mitch Daniels, President Bush has declared almost one-third of Indiana counties disaster areas. So far, flooding has claimed at least one life. Ernest Wilmer, 54, drowned in Bartholomew County. Campers rescued in Putnam County Six campers stranded in the Owen-Putnam State Forest were rescued Sunday night. Three adults, one toddler and two infants were camping at the park when they were stranded by mudslides caused by rain. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued the campers after an earlier attempt by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources was called off due to rough terrain. | | | |
