Trustee working to determine Premier assets
A bankruptcy trustee is planning an auction of Premier Properties USA Inc.'s office furniture while struggling to get a handle on what other assets of the defunct developer remain. Attorney James T. Young, representing Trustee Philip F. Boberschmidt, hesitated at a hearing today when a bankruptcy judge asked whether he was receiving full cooperation from Premier and its founder, Christopher P. White.

Library delays Ambassador recommendation
Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library officials said yesterday that they need more time to make a recommendation on who should redevelop the Ambassador apartment building and another library-owned property adjacent to the Central Library downtown. The library's director of facilities management, Ed Olsen, was expected to present the library staff's recommendation at last night's meeting of the Board of Trustees' Building Committee. But that didn't happen after three developers all provided additional information on their plans. A final decision on the project is scheduled to be made June 19.

Railroads deal with tracks washed out in flood
Two Indiana railway companies have been forced to either suspend or cut back service as they deal with floodwaters that washed out gravel under tracks through Johnson County, reports the Daily Journal. Indianapolis-based Indiana Rail Road Co. cut back service so workers could stabilize tracks with crushed rock between Bloomington and Indianapolis. Jeffersonville-based Louisville & Indiana Railroad suspended service through Whiteland so tracks could be inspected and repairs made.   Full Story

Ivy Tech to get first installment of $6M bookstore bonus
Ivy Tech Community College will receive the first of three $2 million signing- bonus checks from Follett Higher Education Group today. In March, Ivy Tech announced an eight-year agreement with Illinois-based Follett for the management of Ivy Tech's 27 bookstores across the state. The agreement included a $6 million signing bonus for the college, which will pay for $1.7 million in renovations and improvements in service to the bookstores. The total signing bonus will be paid over the eight-year length of the contract.

Columbus residents seek help from FEMA
FEMA workers are continuing to assess flood damage today in Bartholomew County, one of the hardest hit areas in the state. Columbus residents met with FEMA officials last night hoping to find out how to get some help. But FEMA's lack of information created frustration and anger for families. Fox 59 will have the latest at 10 p.m.

Floodwater spills over levee
Floodwater was pouring over a levee along White River in Daviess County this morning. Officials ordered residents north of Maysville to evacuate after the water spilled over a section of the levee near the town of Capehart.



Daniels continues to tour state
Today, Gov. Mitch Daniels will continue touring storm-damaged areas of south-central Indiana. The governor arrived in Moscow this morning and will travel to flood damaged areas in Hope, Spencer and Franklin.

Woman-owned firm building retail center
Cindy Schembre, a former vice president with Duke Realty Corp. who formed VIA Retail Development LLC, is developing her first project on 10.6 acres at the intersection of Pendleton Pike and Mitthoeffer Road. Schembre's company is based in Carmel. The $15 million Lawrence Commons will comprise about 90,000 square feet of retail space.
