Cities still critical to economy, study finds

Cities retain age-old advantages for building economies despite advancements in technology and transportation that allow work to be accomplished from remote locations, according to a study by the Institute for Public Policy Research, a British think tank. Close proximity of residents and businesses cuts travel costs, high density brings intensity to learning, and
lots of variety increases odds of innovation. The upshot is that markets work better and companies are more productive-and cities are more important than ever.
