The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Aug. 17-18 at Conner Prairie Amphitheatre Just in case you run out of things to say while you wait for the latest incarnation of The Glenn Miller Orchestra to swing into its first number at Conner Prairie this weekend, here are some conversation
"What's with the extra n?" "If your train left the Pennsylvania Station 'bout a quarter to four, how long before you're in Baltimore?" "The band's latest musical director, Larry O'Brian, used to tour with Pia Zadora. I wonder what that was like." "I know what Pennsylvania 6-5000 was the phone number for and you don't?" (In case you don't, it was New York's Hotel Pennsylvania.) "What was a better use of the Glenn Miller classic 'In the Mood': Steven Spielberg's '1941' or that one episode of "Gilmore Girls"? "With Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Bob Marley and other deceased legends, there are consistent rumors of their being alive. Why not with Miller, whose airplane mysteriously disappeared without a trace in 1944?" "James Stewart played him in 'The Glenn Miller Story' back in 1953. Who would play him in a remake?" "Why did Glenn Miller Orchestra musical director 'Peanuts' Hucko only last for eight months back in 1974. I mean, if your company were run by a guy named Peanuts, wouldn't you want him to stick around as long as possible?" Of course, rather than talking, you could be dancing. Prior to the concert, complimentary dance lessons will be offered beginning at 7:15 p.m. For more details on the concert, click here.
