| Hilbert mansion sale pending; buyer a mystery An individual who does not yet want to be identified has reached an agreement to buy the Carmel mansion that once belonged to Conseco Inc. co-founder Steve Hilbert. This morning Judy Koehler, managing broker for Carpenter Realtors' Fishers office, confirmed to IBJ that Carpenter Sales Associate Linda Genrich is representing the buyer in the transaction. Terms of the deal, which is scheduled to close by the end of this week, were not disclosed. WXIN to simulcast morning news on WTTV Starting Jan. 2, the morning newscast on WXIN-TV Channel 59 will be simulcast on its sister station, WTTV-TV Channel 4. While other central Indiana affiliates offer blended local and national morning newscasts, WXIN is the only station to offer an all-local weekday news show. The local "Fox 59 Morning News" airs from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. WXIN also supplies news for IBJ Daily. | | | | |
| | Holiday bonuses strong in Johnson County Fewer companies are giving their employees holiday bonuses, but the dying tradition seems to be alive and well in Johnson County, according to the Daily Journal . Of 10 local companies the newspaper surveyed, six give a bonus ranging from $100 to $500. NSK Precision America in Franklin gives bonuses to its 400 workers based on productivity and performance. But others do so for no reason other than generosity.
Warming to produce mixed bag, prof predicts Global warming will make winters in northwest Indiana feel like those in southern Ohio by 2030, with implications for business, a University of Illinois professor says. Quoted in the Times of Munster, Don Wuebbles said soybeans and wheat could be helped by the longer growing season, but that extremes in rain and drought could hurt the crops.
Is Jones a political football? Carmel tech entrepreneur Scott Jones finds himself in the middle of a political debate he didn't ask for and doesn't want. A spokeswoman for the Indiana Democratic Party is questioning whether he needs grants awarded by the state for two of his businesses, and whether his political ties to Republican Gov. Carson not seeking re-election U.S. Rep. Julia Carson, who revealed over the weekend that she is battling terminal lung cancer, will not run for a seventh term, her chief of staff, Len Sistek, announced this morning. It is unclear if the Indianapolis Democrat will return to Congress, but Sistek said she wants to. Andy Jacobs, a former congressman and friend to Carson, confirms the 69-year-old is receiving hospice care. Fox 59 will have the latest at 10 p.m.
Child dies after northwest-side fire A 3-year-old child is dead after a fire in the 4800 block of Oakwood Trail, east of Eagle Creek Park. Pike Township firefighters said they pulled the child from the second floor of an apartment after his mother said she couldn't find him. He was rushed to a hospital but died a short time later. Officials are not sure how the fire started or how many people were home at the time.
Hamilton County judge to hear annexation case The ongoing annexation fight between Fishers and Geist moves to a Hamilton County courtroom today. A judge will hear a request from the town of Fishers to block Geist residents' attempts to become two separate towns. Residents are trying to incorporate into East and West Geist in order to prevent the annexation.

| IU to sign Bill Lynch to four-year contract Indiana University is signing head football coach Bill Lynch to a four-year contract. Lynch had a 7-5 record this season after taking over for Terry Hoeppner, who died earlier this year from complications of a brain tumor. Terms of Lynch's contract might be disclosed a news conference scheduled for early this afternoon.
