IMS wants Formula One to return
Talks between Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Formula One officials have continued, despite last summer's announcement that the 2008 U.S. Grand Prix would not take place. Those talks have given way to some optimism that the F1 race could be back at the famed Brickyard in 2009, when the IMS will celebrate is centennial. "The door is not closed," IMS spokesman Fred Nation told IBJ today. "We want F1 back, and there is interest from F1 in coming back." 
Cymbalta OK'd for major depressive disorder
Federal regulators have approved Eli Lilly and Co.'s blockbuster antidepressant, Cymbalta, for a new use. The drug is now OK'd to provide maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder, according to a decision by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which Lilly announced today. Maintenance drugs are used after a bout of depression to delay relapse.

AirTran signs Lucas Oil Stadium sponsorship
Orlando-based AirTran Airways has signed on as a sponsor of Lucas Oil Stadium and will have a section of the stadium named in its honor. AirTran did not reveal the sponsorship amount in its announcement, and a message left with an AirTran representative was not immediately returned. AirTran joins Huntington Bank, Advantage Health Solutions and Baker & Daniels as firms attaching their names to the new home of the Indianapolis Colts. The $675 million venue is scheduled to open in time for the 2008 NFL season.
Finish Line subpoenaed in Genesco deal
Athletic-footwear retailer Finish Line Inc. said in a regulatory filing yesterday that it received a subpoena from federal prosecutors in New York related to its proposed acquisition of shoe retailer Genesco Inc. Indianapolis-based Finish Line in June agreed to pay $1.5 billion for Genesco, but has since tried to back out of the deal. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, which issued the subpoena, appears to be investigating allegations that Genesco hid financial problems in the weeks before Finish Line agreed to the purchase.
Illinois will botch Chicago casinos, official says
Illinois lawmakers will bungle an attempt to allow new casinos in Chicago and its suburbs, Indiana Gaming Commission Executive Director Ernest Yelton told an Indiana newspaper. The Times of Munster quotes Yelton as predicting the five Indiana casinos on Lake Michigan will be safe from the potential competition because Illinois politicians have a poor track record in catering to gamblers. "One of our advantages to Illinois is they, historically, seem to do everything wrong," Yelton said.
Small-business lobbyist moving to Ohio
Kevin Hughes, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, will step down in mid-December to take a fund-raising post for Columbus-based OhioHealth. The 31-year-old started the Indiana job lobbying on behalf of small businesses in January but decided to return to Columbus, where his fianc? lives. NFIB Indiana, the state's largest small-business lobby, has begun searching for a new state director, a key post in the face of the property tax changes the Legislature is expected to make this year.
Employment support service relocates
A fast-growing employment support organization opened today in a new location. The Neighborhood Self-Employment Initiative and its Central Indiana Women's Business Center moved to 4755 Kingsway Drive, just north and east of 46th Street and Keystone Avenue in the Willowbrook Office Park. "With this move, NSI will dramatically increase its space to support and build its training programs and counseling and financial services," said board President Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp.

When Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Formula One parted ways this summer, more than one person in Indianapolis muttered, "Good riddance." F1's leader, Bernie Ecclestone, was viewed as arrogant, pushy and greedy. Just the same, the city likes the prestige of hosting the race-not to mention collecting the tourism dollars. Couple accused of killing child appear in court
A mother and her boyfriend accused of killing her 3-year-old daughter appeared in court this morning. On the way in, Lawrence Green, 20, told Fox 59, "I'm not the one who whipped her." His girlfriend, Charity Bailey, 20, kept quiet and tried to hide her face from news cameras. Inside the courtroom, the two heard the formal murder charges filed against them in the death early this week of Tajanay Bailey. Prosecutors say she was beaten and hung on a hook. Fox 59 will have the latest at 10 p.m.

| Fire destroys a Perkinsville home
A mobile home fire in rural Madison County this morning closed State Road 13 between 266th Street and Strawtown Road. Firefighters arrived find the home engulfed in flames. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
Police arrest suspect following chase
Metro police have arrested a man they say led them on a 20-minute chase on the south side. Officers say it started overnight in the 1500 block of Albany Street in Beech Grove after they tried to pull over a man suspected of driving drunk. The suspect crashed into two police cars and took off on foot. Police dogs stopped him near Carson Square strip mall.
Hamilton Avenue murder suspect found guilty
One of two men accused of killing seven people in Indianapolis' worst mass murder has been found guilty of felony battery in a separate case. Yesterday, a jury convicted Desmond Turner of battery by bodily waste for spitting on a jail guard. That conviction carries a sentence of six months to three years in prison. Turner and James Stewart are accused of killing the seven family members last June.
