Toyota supplier to create 200 jobs in Princeton
A supplier to Toyota Motor Manufacturing said today that it will build a 201,000-square-foot plant to manufacture seat frames for at least one Toyota model assembled at the sprawling Princeton plant. Toyota Boshoku Corp., which is based in Japan but is not part of the giant automaker, will locate the plant and its 200-plus workers next to a Total Interior Systems-America plant it operates in a joint venture with Lear Corp., according to the Indiana Economic Development Corp.   Full Story

WellPoint opens west-side pharmacy operation
Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. has opened its location at Indianapolis International Airport for handling specialty drugs. The 126,000-square-foot site within the former United Airlines maintenance hangar has automated handling equipment and a call center. It is staffed with 400 workers and is slated to grow to 900 before 2010.   Full Story

Lawyer named Harrison re-use director
Fort Benjamin Harrison Reuse Authority has named Cassandra Ashley-Jordan to replace Ehren Bingaman as executive director. Bingaman resigned in August to become the first executive director of the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority, which was created by state statute in 2004 to coordinate public transit in the nine-county area. Ashley-Jordan is an environmental scientist and attorney who most recently practiced at the Indianapolis law firm Coleman Stevenson LLC. She lived at the post while her father was a U.S. Army officer.

Construction stopped on Terre Haute siding plant
CertainTeed Corp. has halted construction on a $70 million plant in Terre Haute that is to make cement-fiber house siding, prompting contractors to slap a flurry of liens on the property. The Valley Forge, Pa., company says the stop is temporary, but didn't offer details as to when construction might resume, according to The Tribune-Star of Terre Haute. Terre Haute Economic Development Corp. President Steve Witt told the newspaper that the slump in the housing industry likely prompted CertainTeed to delay the project.   Full Story

Daniels, senators disagree over I-69 approval
Gov. Mitch Daniels' administration and some Republican state senators disagree over whether legislative approval would be needed to build the Interstate 69 extension through Perry Township in Marion County. The administration contends that approval only would have been required if it were built as a toll road, an approach no longer under discussion.   Full Story

Leaders of the Indiana Commission on Local Government Reform said they wanted recommendations from Hoosiers on ways to make local government less costly yet more effective and efficient. Shelbyville police officer laid to rest
Shelbyville police officer Gary Henderson was laid to rest today following funeral services at the Shelbyville High School auditorium. Sgt. Henderson died last week along I-74 when he was struck by wheels that came loose from a semi-trailer truck. Fox 59 will have more at 10 p.m.


Police search for suspects
Metro police are searching for four men who they believe are behind a shooting that left one man dead. Otis Brown was shot and killed in the basement of a barber shop in the 3100 block of North Clifton Street yesterday afternoon. Witnesses told police that they heard gunshots after Brown went into the basement with the men to gamble.

Sampson sanctioned for recruiting violations
Indiana University head basketball coach Kelvin Sampson will give up a scheduled $500,000 raise after an internal investigation found he was involved in 10 three-way calls with recruits. The calls happened while Sampson was under a one-year ban from off-campus recruiting due to improper calls he made while coaching at Oklahoma. His team also will lose one scholarship next season.

Fishers/Indianapolis commuter service launches
A new option is available to commuters who travel from Fishers to downtown Indianapolis. IndyGo Commuter Express began service this morning. For two dollars each way, commuters can make the trip on a coach bus. The trip takes about 40 minutes. There are six stops downtown.
