 |  Elkhart Investor Pushes Emmis Liquidation Elkhart money manager Frank Martin said in a regulatory filing this morning that he conducted a video teleconference with Emmis Communications Corp. directors this week to express his deep dissatisfaction with the company's performance. Martin, whose firm own 9.7 percent of Emmis stock, said in the filing that the company should seriously consider selling its radio stations and other holdings and "return capital to ... shareholders before [the company's] value may diminish further." 
FDA Approves Lilly's Evista For Breast Cancer Eli Lilly and Co.'s osteoporosis drug Evista has been approved to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and in postmenopausal women at high risk for invasive breast cancer, the Indianapolis drugmaker announced today. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's move came after an FDA advisory panel in late July recommended the approval. Lilly is looking for more uses for the drug, which generates $1 billion a year in sales, because it expects sales to weaken in the next several years. A patent on the drug expires in 2014.

 | |  Former Rolls Royce Exec Lands Samsung Pact An Anderson company controlled by retired Rolls Royce executive Mike Hudson has signed an engineering, manufacturing and distribution agreement with a global powerhouse, Seoul, Korea-based Samsung Techwin Co. Ltd. IPower Energy Systems, which makes energy-efficient and environmentally friendly generators, gets exclusive Samsung distribution rights in markets including China, Korea, Vietnam, India, Australia, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Samsung officials will come to Anderson to work on tailoring I Power systems to the new markets. 
Emmis Dismisses Claims In Radio Lawsuit Locally-based Emmis Communications Corp. claims a lawsuit filed against the company by Talk Radio Network morning host Erich "Mancow" Muller, a former Emmis personality, is "without merit." Muller filed the civil suit in Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, according to trade publication Radio Ink. Muller's "Mancow's Morning Madness" program was based at Emmis' WKQX Chicago until June 2006, when the host's contract was not renewed. The suit alleges WKQX personalities disparaged Muller on the air. 
Acorn Distributors Doubles Size With Acquisition Acorn Distributors Inc. of Indianapolis has acquired Cottingham Paper of Columbus, Ohio, for an undisclosed price, Acorn announced today. The deal doubles the size of Acorn, which is based in Park Fletcher near Indianapolis International Airport, to about 135 workers. Acorn did not disclose terms of the deal. 
East Chicago Casino Sold To Ameristar The Indiana Gaming Commission has approved the purchase of Resorts East Chicago by Las Vegas-based Ameristar Casinos Inc. Ameristar is buying a subsidiary of Las Vegas-based Resorts International Holdings LLC that owns and operates Resorts East Chicago for $675 million.

 Teenager To Plead Guilty To Abduction, Rape A teenager accused of carjacking, raping and robbing a woman was expected to plead guilty in court this morning. Police say Audrain Jones kidnapped a woman in a downtown Indianapolis parking garage in March, forced her to drive to an ATM to withdraw money and then raped her. Jones is charged in a similar incident involving an Indianapolis teacher in spring of last year. Fox 59 will have more at 10 p.m.

 | Child Deaths Could Be Prevented The Department of Child Protective Services has released a report showing that 53 children in the state died from neglect or abuse last year. Thirty children died from abuse at the hands of their parents or someone else. Experts say the other 23 deaths could have been prevented because they stemmed from neglect.
 Pacers Suspend Williams Following Traffic Stop Indiana Pacers forward Shawne Williams appeared in court for an initial hearing this morning. He faces a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license following his Sept. 11 arrest. The Pacers suspended Williams three games for the incident. According to his agent, Williams will release a statement soon.
