| Hendry Replacement Likely To Be Local The person who replaces Gordon Hendry at the helm of Indy Partnership likely will be from the Indianapolis area, said Mark Miles, who is president of the economic development marketing group's oversight organization, Central Indiana Corporate Partnership. Without divulging names, Miles said he has three or four possibilities in mind: "We will have superb choices among local candidates."
Clarian Scales Back Employee Health Demands Instead of charging its employees for failing to quit smoking, lose weight or improve other health factors, Clarian Health Partners now will give them incentives to change bad health habits. Clarian had planned to charge employees $5 per paycheck-or $130 a year-beginning next year if they smoked cigarettes and weren't trying to quit.

| | Housing Sales Tumble In August Pending home sales in the Indianapolis area fell 14.2 percent in August compared to a year earlier, according to residential real estate brokerage F.C. Tucker Co. The nine-county region generated 2,419 pending sales of single-family homes and condominiums. Such sales are signed but not closed. Only Boone and Shelby counties posted increases.
'Marble' Sculpture Pulled From Cultural Trail Emily Kennerk's public art won't be part of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail because the Indianapolis native and trail officials could not agree on the timing or budget for the piece, a trail spokeswoman said today. "Play" would have involved five oversized marbles at the intersection of Alabama and Vermont streets and Massachusetts Avenue. Kennerk's was the first public art piece announced by trail officials. The public art advisory committee now will work with other already-vetted artists to find a piece for that section of the trail. The trail's total public art budget is $2 million.
Promotions to jumpstart Indiana flights The latest attempt to establish regular airline flights linking South Bend and Evansville with Indianapolis is taxiing for a November takeoff. The airports plan to resume commercial flights Nov. 13 with promotional fares saluting highways that connect or will connect the three cities. A one-way flight from South Bend will cost $31, and a round-trip ticket for Evansville travelers will be $69.
More Than 30,000 Apply For Honda Jobs More than 30,000 people applied online for jobs at the $550 million Honda Motor Corp. factory under construction in southeastern Indiana. Sept. 9 was the deadline for potential workers to be considered for a round of hiring to begin this fall. The company began accepting applications for production jobs Aug. 26.
Simon To Endure Mall Downturn, Times Says Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group is positioned to weather a looming downturn in values of shopping malls, according to The New York Times. The real estate investment trust, the nation's largest owner of shopping malls, is concentrated in choice regional malls whose values are expected to hold up in the face of deteriorating credit markets, the newspapers said.
Integra Bank to Buy Cincinnati Bank Evansville-based Integra Bank Corp. said today it has agreed to acquire Cincinnati-based Peoples Community Bancorp Inc. in a deal valued at $85.6 million. Peoples Community Bank has 19 locations in southwestern Ohio and southeastern Indiana. Integra has 80 banking centers in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio.

Video of fight may exist Detectives say they may have video of a Sept. 11 fight that happened just hours before Ramirez Smith, 15, and his pregnant mother were shot. Witnesses tell police they saw Smith's mother, Shawn, and several teenage girls get into a fight with several other girls at Gateway Park. Hours later, there was another fight near Smith's home on Wixson Court, followed by gunshots. That's when Ramirez Smith was shot and killed. His mother was shot in the stomach and had to give birth to her baby prematurely. Police say they're still trying to identify everyone involved in the park fight and the fatal shooting.
Police: Woman shot by stalker Metro police are searching for a man accused of shooting a woman several times in the 3700 block of Capitol Avenue early this morning. Investigators believe the man had been stalking the victim before the attack. Police say the woman had filed complaints against the shooter for stalking and harassing her.

| Lawmakers want tougher dogfighting laws State Sen. Jim Arnold, D-LaPorte, and Rep. Linda Lawson, D-Hammond, want to crack down on dogfighting in the wake of the Michael Vick scandal. Arnold says he hopes to make the state's dogfighting laws the toughest in the nation. According to the Humane Society of the United States, 40,000 people across the country participate in the illegal sport. The organization ranks Indiana's laws the 25th strictest in the nation.
Danville Police to announce arrests of suspects Today, Danville Police and the Hendricks County prosecutor plan to announce arrests of suspects involved in more than 100 car break-ins and burglaries in the last few months. Officers say they've recovered some of the stolen items worth tens of thousands of dollars.
St. Elizabeth invites doctor investment Having criticized the for-profit, physician-owned structure of its competitor's new hospital, St. Elizabeth Regional Health has found a way to cut its own doctors in on its forthcoming Lafayette hospital. But St. Elizabeth insists it's not copying its bitter rivals, Lafayette's Arnett Clinic and Indianapolis' Clarian Health Partners.
